Dunstable Town Football Club and Northfields Technology College have formed a partnership to provide young footballers between the ages of 16 and 18 with the opportunity to combine full time education whilst developing their football ability in preparation for a possible career in football together with an academic programme appropriate to their needs and aspirations.
Football Coaching/Training
All training/coaching sessions and games are provided by Dunstable Town Football Club and all students will be registered as players with the Club.
The training and coaching is fully integrated into the curriculum and comprises a total of 6 hours per week with 3 two hour sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays with Wednesday afternoons free for matches. Floodlit youth matches can be on any evening during the week except Fridays.
What are the entry requirements for the Football Development Programme?
Dunstable Town Football Club are looking for talented footballers but are committed to giving boys of all abilities an opportunity to progress their football skills. All boys must attend a formal trial.
Players who are offered a place will be expected to display at all times an excellent standard of behaviour and discipline both on and off the field of play and must be fully committed to carrying on with their education.
Anyone who fails to meet the academic requirements of the Course ( attendance, punctuality, coursework etc.,) will be suspended from all football activities.
What facilities will we use?
Training will take place on the playing fields at Northfields Technology College and games will be either at the College or at Dunstable Town’s home ground at Creasey Park
What games will we play?
Dunstable Town Football Club runs one of the largest Football Scholarship Programmes in the South of England with teams currently competing in:
- Southern Counties Youth League ( Corinthian and Delphian Divisions )
- British Colleges League ( East Divisions 1 & 2 )
This season our various youth teams will play around 80 games.
Where do the games take place?
All home games take place at Dunstable Football Club or at the College
Do we need training kit?
Dunstable Town Football Club will provide each student with training kit and tracksuits etc., for which you will be asked to make a contribution. This year the student contribution was £120.00
Can I still play for my Youth team at weekends?
Yes is the general answer unless we require you for other games - eg First team / Reserve team.
How far can I progress my Football career and how do all of these teams fit in?
Dunstable Town Football Club play in Youth Leagues that are able to offer the highest level of youth football outside of professional football. Entry into the world of non-league football is via our first team and we have had many successes here with boys progressing onto Southern Premier and Conference football.
